Distinguished Flying Cross:
This officer has displayed a high degree of skill, courage and devotion to duty in operations against the enemy. In spite of a trying exercise on his first operational mission, Flying Officer Dowling has shown an outstanding keenness and has now completed a large number of sorties. On a recent occasion he flew with great distinction in an attack against Scholven Buer. His determination on this occasion was typical of that which he has shown throughout his tour.
