No. 7 Service Flying Training School, RAAF - September 1942

2 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
P/O W.L. JOHNSON arrived on posting from No. 1 AD for experience Equipment duties.
3 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Station Church Parade held on anniversary of commencement of war. F/O WELSH, Group Security Officer, visited unit. Unit Commando members under leadership of the Commanding Officer stunted the VDC Camp and WANGANELLA Station. S/Ldr H.D. MARSH, Group Naviation Officer, visited Unit.
4 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
5 Wirraway aircraft and 3 Ryan aircraft ferried to RICHMOND by 21 Course trainees.
5 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Wackett trainer A3-92 of BENALLA command operating from this Station, crashed at WARBRECCAN, trainee, LAC LEARMONT, fatally injured, instructor injured.
Operation by Nos. 62 & 63 Reserve Squadrons in formation and attack on VDC at WANGANELLA carried out very successfully.
S/Ldrs ALLEN and PAPE arrived on investigation of BENALLA commands aircraft crash and fatality.
7 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Postings of F/Lts ANGWIN, TALBERG, and ROBILLIARD to No. 1 AD LAVERTON for Photographic Reconnaissance training.
9 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
32 Tiger Moth aircraft arrived from BENALLA for training of that Units' Junior Course, 103 trainees arrived and Senior Course transferred to BENALLA with their 37 Wackett trainer aircraft.
Beechcroft aircraft landed ex MILDURA en route for WAGGA, caught fire on tarmac. The fire was extinguished by the Unit Fire tender before serious damage done - no injuries.
11 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/O STUBENRAUCH arrived on posting from No. 2 OTU for Armament duties as Unit Armament Officer. P/O W.L. JOHNSON posted to No. 8 EFTS for equipment duties.
14 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/Lt G.L. MILES, Armament Officer, posted to No. 2 BAGS for Armament duties.
F/Lts FOWLER, and BOYD posted to No. 2 Fighter Sector Headquarters for controllers course.
15 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Promotions - Officers to Temp. Rank -- To T/S/L - F/Lts and A/S/Ldrs WALKER, COOK, and KEARNEY. To F/Lts (Temp) - F/O's and A/F/Lts PILCHER, HILL, MOSELEY, STRAHAN, F/O's KEYS, PAGE, TOLHURST, PAHUD, CORLY-BUTLER as from 1.4.1942.
16 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Passing out examination. 24 Course Pass 74.8% average. P/O RAPHAEL, Group Welfare Officer and Mr. DETTMAN, YMCA representative, visited on Welfare duties.
17 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/O ANDERSON of Directorate of Armament, Air Force Headquarters, inspected on Armament equipment. 47 Trainees, Course 21 completed training at A.T.S., 12 commissions, 35 promoted Sgt Airman Pilots. Postings - 28 to No. 2 BAGS - 7 to No. 1 BAGS - 8 to No. 2 WAGS. 3 to No. 5 SFTS - 1 to No. 3 WAGS.
F/Lt N.F. REEVE, Padre, posted to No. 30 SQUADRON.
18 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
P/O MORGAN, paymaster, posted to No. 7 Squadron, NOWRA for pay and accounting duties.
Final examination for Course 23 (P).
19 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Course 24 (P) completed ITS training. LAC's WOLKENHAAR and CUTLER ferried Ryan aircraft S54 to RICHMOND.
20 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/Lt TAYLOR, Group Signals Officer, visited Unit. 75 traineers, Course 26 (p) arrived at Unit to commence training.
21 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Course 24 (P) commenced ATS training. Course 25 (P) commenced Senior ITS, Course 23 (P) Commenced Senior ATS. Course 22 (P) - CO's conference. Recommendations for commissions and employment. CO, OC ITS; OC ATS, and CGI attended.
Course 26 (P) commenced ITS training.
22 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Visit of inspection by the A.O.C., Air Commodore R.J. BROWNELL, arrived by Anson aircraft.
Squadron dive bombing attack practice on main aerodrome by Nos. 62 & 63 Reserve Squadrons.
F/O F.J. GILLESPIE and Sgt THUELL, R.A. ferried Wirraway A20-601 to Fishermans Bend.
Flying ceased at 1300 hours owing to adverse weather conditions.
Training plan EATS to revert to original basis of 16 weeks SFTS and 100 hours flying. Four weekly outputs and intake.
24 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
The Commanding Officer, G/Capt CAMPBELL departed by Wirraway aircraft to MELBOURNE for A.O.C.'s Officer promotions conference. Returned 27.9.1942.
27 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/O R.S. LOVELL posted to No. 2 OTU MILDURA to undergo Fighter O.T.C.
28 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Posted as staff pilots from No. 5 SFTS - P/O TRUMPER, Sgts - WALLACE, TAMLYN, WISKAR.
29 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Course 23 (P) CO's conference. Recommendations for commissions and employment. CO; OC ITS; OC ATS; and CGI attended.
30 September 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Posted from CFS TAMWORTH as Flying Instructors - W/O HARRIS, F/Sgts BLACK, KELSO, Sgts BYRNES, and WOOD. Course 22 (P) completed flying.

BUILDINGS. - 2 trainees huts, 1 Sgts' Hut and WAAAF Administrative Office under construction during month. Furnishings of WAAAF Recreation Hut completed by YMCA and ACF.

AIRCRAFT SERVICEABILITY. The percentage of average working serviceability for the month of September was 80%.
