No. 7 Service Flying Training School, RAAF - August 1942

3 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/Lt ROBEY, Navigation Officer, P/O MOORE, (A&SD) attached for experience, departed on posting to No. 8 SFTS and No. 1 ED respectively.
Salvage party returned from vicinity of HAY with Fairey Battle aircraft - forced landed there from No. 2 BAGS, PORT PIRIE.
3 Vultee Vengeance aicraft from No. 2 OTU, MILDURA - one damaged on landing and remained for repairs at this Unit.
4 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
P/O MACHIN arrived on inspection from Air Force Headquarters relative personnel accomodation in relation to proposal for using recreation huts for sleeping quarters.
6 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/Lt's WALD, and McLACHLAN ex No. 1 T.G. visited on Equipment Inspection.
7 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Satisfactory Station Fire practice held.
8 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Course 23(P) completed ITS training.
Course 25(P) began ITS training.
10 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Course 25(P) partial intake.
11 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Course 25(P) completed intake - Strength 31.
District Court Martial held at this Unit on charge for Low Flying brought against No. 6901 Sgt WYNDHAM, I.R.
S/Ldr BERRIMAN and Section Officer CARTER visited on RAAF and WAAAF Physical Training services from Air Force Headquarters.
P/O NIBLOCK arrived from No. 30 Squadron RICHMOND on posting for Engineer duties.
12 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Visit by Mr. DERAVIN of the Business Men's Advisory Committee on General RAAF matters.
15 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Sister DOWARD departed on posting to No. 2 ED. Sister BARTER arrived on posting from No. 2 RAAF Hospital.
17 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Posting of 6 officers, 50 Sgt WAGS for Nos 62 & 63 Reserve Squadrons; also 120 airmen ex various units.
Course 23(P) commenced Junior ATS.
P/O LOCKMAN arrived on posting ex School of Administration for Accounting and Pay duties.
19 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
P/O BERTRAM arrived on posting ex No. 1 SD for duties as Equipment Officer.
20 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
RAAF BENALLA (No. 11 EFTS) commenced to operate training from WANDOOK Satellite aerodrome, with 40 aircraft. - 80 trainees and 80 instructors and ground staff arrived by aircraft and Motor Transport. Temporary measure only on account of excessive wet weather.
21 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/Lt TUCKFIELD, Station Navigation Officer reported on posting from No. 2 AOS MOUNT GAMBIER.
24 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Sgt BRIGGS, Airman Pilot ex No. 2 OTU arrived on posting to ATS as Staff Pilot.
25 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
W/C TOWNSEND; Group Engineer Officer, W/C VATCHER; and assistant P.M.O., F/Lt DOBELL-BROWN visited ex No. 1 Training Group.
Aircraft Accident - A20-361 - Class "D"; Pilot No. 407231 W.O. FORSTER, W.E.S; Second Pilot No. 403356 Sgt MILASI, J. - caused by low flying, damaging port mainplane; Leading edge buckled and torn; reduction gear housing damaged; metal particles throughout engine; airscrew slightly damaged. Accident referred to the Air Officer Commanding for disciplinary action.
26 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Aircraft A20-333 (Sgt WILLCOCKS, GB. Pilot and Sgt BURKE, B.O. Wireless Air Gunner) and aircraft A20-342 (Sgt CULLEN, D.N. Pilot and Sgt WOODS, A.D. Wireless Air Gunner) collided in mid air during Low Level Dive Bombing attack. All personnel killed.
S/Ldrs ALLEN AND POPE arrived by aircraft for investigation of fatal accident.
27 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
Committees of Adjustment consisting of F/Lt C.D. HILL and P/O C.M. HEMINGWAY appointed F/Lt R.J. BARRETT and P/O W.J. WALLMAN by the Commanding Officer to investigate the affaris of the late Sgts CULLEN and WOODS, WILLCOCKS and BOURKE.
28 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
P/O PERDRIAU arrived on posting for No. 62 Reserve Squadron Equipment duties.
31 August 1942 - DENILIQUIN
F/O's HOLLOWAY, SHEANDON, LESLIE and F/Sgt TOWILL arrived on posting from CFS TAMWORTH as flying instructors.
P/O HARRISON, navigation officer, arrived on posting ex CRESSY.
Physical Training programme for whole Station commenced.
