No. 41 Squadron, RAAF - May 1945

2 May 1945 - CAIRNS
F/Lt. C.C. Ross arrived on posting from A.G.S. as Adjutant.
3 May 1945 - CAIRNS
F/Lt. T.G. Britton departed on posting to 2 Personnel Depot.
4 May 1945 - CAIRNS
An instruction was received that this Squadron was to disband with effect 10th May and all aircraft were allotted to 1 FBRD for storage.
5 May 1945 - CAIRNS
A70-12 departed on search for ship in distress and located same - guiding rescue vessells.
6 May 1945 - CAIRNS
W/Cdr. S.R.C. Wood DFC departed on posting to 74 Wing Headquarters to command.
S/Ldr. G.M. Mason assuming Temporary Command of Squadron.
8 May 1945 - CAIRNS
Further instruction was received deferring disbandment of Squadron until 10th June 1945.
G/Capt. H.C. Sheath arrived on inspection of Educational Facilities.
9 May 1945 - CAIRNS
All personnel who could be spared were granted stand-down as instructed.
S/Ldr. G.M. Mason Temporarily Commanding departed for North Eastern Area Headquarters for promotions Conference. F/Lt. L.G. Webber assuming Temporary Command.
12 May 1945 - CAIRNS
F/Lt. P.E. Wright departed for 2 Personnel Depot for Termination of Appointment.
16 May 1945 - CAIRNS
A Concert was given by an Army Entertainment Unit.
22 May 1945 - CAIRNS
F/Lt. J. Ferguson departed on cessation of attachment.
26 May 1945 - CAIRNS
S/Ldr. G.M. Mason departed for conference at North Eastern Area and RAAF Headquarters.
F/Lt. L.G. Webber assuming Temporary Command.
28 May 1945 - CAIRNS
W/Cdr. Simmons arrived on inspection from North Eastern Area.
31 May 1945 - CAIRNS
A70-2. F/Lt. L.G. Webber - Departed on search to sea of Coast from Rockhampton. Search successful.
PROMOTIONS. F/O L.W. Wilson was promoted to Temporary Flight Lieutenant.
GENERAL A daily service to Madanag, and a bi-weekly service to Brisbane was carried out during the greater part of the Month. The Usual Welfare activities were carried out -. A weekly picture show, and the Squadron provided teams for local football, basketball, and table tennis Competitions, and participated in a local swimming Carnival. Discussions groups were held weekly.
