No. 31 Squadron, RAAF - November 1942

2 November 1942 - BATCHELOR
Advance party, consisting of 15 guards, 2 armourers, 1 carpenter, 1 Electrician, 1 Driver Motor Transport, 2 flight riggers, in charge of Pilot Officer DRYSDALE, left BATCHELOR for new site at COOMALIE CREEK.
Air-raid alert sounded in morning, all clear signal given about ten minutes later.
12 November 1942 - BATCHELOR
No. 31 Squadron main party moved from BATCHELOR to new site at COOMALIE CREEK.
13 November 1942 - COOMALIE CK
Squadron commenced flying operations.
17 November 1942 - COOMALIE CK
Squadron engaged in enemy operations - Aircraft A19-46 crashed into sea, whilst engaged in operations - crew-Squadron Leader RIDING & Warrant Officer CLARKE - both missing, presumed killed.
18 November 1942 - COOMALIE CK
Squadron Leader DEGENHARDT - O.C., No. 2 B.P.SO. & Squadron Leader SEWELL, Advanced Headquarters, North Western Area, visited the Squadron.
22 November 1942 - COOMALIE CK
Squadron Leader READ - C.O. of Squadron - in company with Group Captain HEALY, and Flying Officer MARR - Air Observer - departed on flight to New Guinea. - A19-71.
24 November 1942 - COOMALIE CK
Aircraft A19-71 - Squadron Leader READ & Flying Officer MARR - returned from flight to New Guinea.
28 November 1942 - COOMALIE CK
No. 48688 AC1 HAMMATT, B.H. - A.M.G. - inmate of No. 1 M.R.S. - died at 0930 hours.

NOTES: Serviceman is AC1 Benjamin Horace Theodore Hammat, 48688, now buried at Adelaide River War Cemetery.
30 November 1942 - COOMALIE CK
Squadron engaged in enemy operations - Aircraft No. A19-69 missing in air operations - crew Flight Sergeant MORRISON - Pilot - Sergeant FORREST - Observer - both missing, presumed killed.
