No. 1 Wireless Air Gunners School, RAAF - April 1940

22 April 1940 to 30 April 1940 - BALLARAT
Formed at BALLARAT, to Establishment No. T-21, to commence operating on 29th April, 1940.
The Unit provides training for Wireless Air Gunners, in accordance with syllabus in A.P. 1388 (RAF Standard Syllabus for the training of Pilots, Air Observers, and Air Gunners at training establishments). The normal courses of the School to be of twenty four weeks' duration, the first course to commence on 27th May, 1940.
From 29th April, 1940, until commencement of the first course for Wireless Air Gunners (i.e., 27th May, 1940), to be occupied by an initial training course for air gunner trainees.
As at 30th April, 1940, the numbers of personnel were as follow :
Officers : 4.
Airmen (Staff): 39.
Trainees : 77. (intake).
Total: 120.
Aircraft : NIL.
