Formation No. 1 Air Observers' School at COOTAMUNDRA. School quartered at COOTAMUNDRA Showgrounds pending completion of new buildings. First Officers arrived F/LT. A.G. IRELAND, (B.O.), P/O. L.G. COLE, (Adj.), P/O. C.H.S. JOHNSTONE, (Eqpt. Officer).
18 April 1940 - COOTAMUNDRA
Occupation of Novitiate by permanent Air Force personnel.
22 April 1940 - COOTAMUNDRA
Squadron Leader A.M. MURDOCH took over command.
23 April 1940 - COOTAMUNDRA
Occupation COOTAMUNDRA West Railway Station as Administrative Offices.
26 April 1940 - COOTAMUNDRA
Occupation of Drill Hall as Equipment Store.
29 April 1940 - COOTAMUNDRA
First entry of 70 Air Observer trainees for initial training.
