RAAF Station Darwin, RAAF - March 1942

4 March 1942 - DARWIN
Wing Commander S. de B. GRIFFITH, AFC detached to DALY WATERS to command.
Air Raid at 1450 hours. Drome dive-bombombed - casualties nil. One aircraft lost on the ground.

7 March 1942 - DARWIN
RAAF Station, DALY WATERS formed.
10 March 1942 - DARWIN
Squadron Leader A.D. SWAN, MBE, apponted temporary commander of RAAF DARWIN.
16 March 1942 - DARWIN
Heavy air raid (anit-personnel), on RAAF Station. No warning. Damage to buildings and installations.
Casualties were:-
Pilot Officer LITTLEJOHN, T.O. (Killed).
406756, SGT. FORREST, J. (Killed).
32581 LAC GIBBONS, L.R. (Seriously injured).
406476 SGT. GEAR, H. (Seriously injured).
16021 LAC CORMOR, P.R. (Slightly injured).
40029 AC1 AUMONT, W. (Slightly injured).
60825 AC1 WORTHINGTON, J.W. (Slightly injured).
38867 AC1 BERAN, M.A. (Slightly injured).
35731 AC1 MORRIS, B. (Slightly injured).
39845 AC1 ENMIL, J. (Slightly injured).

19 March 1942 - DARWIN
Air Raid at 1150 hours. Seven Bombers over DARWIN in high level attack. No RAAF damage.

22 March 1942 - DARWIN
Air Raid over drome by approximately 6 Zero fighters. No damage or casualties.

NOTES: Darwin Raid No. 6.
28 March 1942 - DARWIN
Air raid by bombers. (High level). Slight damage to runways. No casualties.

NOTES: Darwin Raid No. 7.
30 March 1942 - DARWIN
Air Raid by bombers. (High level). Slight damage to runways. No casualties.

NOTES: Darwin Raid No. 8.
31 March 1942 - DARWIN
Air Raid by bombers. (High level). 13 craters on runways, but quickly repaired. No casualties.
Night raid by three bombers (High level). First night raid in Australia. Bombs dropped at north end of drome. No damage or casualties.
